October 2018

Thanks to Darwin and Nadine Henry for leading a caravan of 21 Corvettes for a drive through the fall colored countryside of the Smoky Valley. A few more couples met the group at Martinelli’s Restaurant in Salina. Almost 50 members, new members and guests enjoyed the large portions of Italian foods in a comfortable banquet room. After lunch the sunny day had warmed to the 70’s, so a couple convertible tops went down to enjoy the drive to Mentor. At Mentor was the Rex Russell Antique Car Museum. The private collection, held in two buildings, was many original cars of all makes. Rex welcomed the members and gave a history of many of his automobiles. Several members sat in the old truck cab for a fun photo-op.

July 2018 - Genova

Fourteen corvettes and twenty-three people enjoyed a nearly seventy-mile drive through three adjoining counties. We encountered three law enforcement officers along the way and received the customary ‘thumbs up’ gestures and one “slow down” hand signal. Without any incidents, we all enjoyed a fantastic Italian dinner at Genova’s.

March 2018-Kingman

Saturday, March 17, was a nice sunny day for a cruise to Kingman and a good meal at Grumpy’s Steakhouse and Bar. The temperature was still in the 60’s, so no convertible tops came down. Thirteen  Corvettes left South Hutchinson and traveled on highway 14, enjoyed a side trip to take the curves west of Cheney Lake, then on to 54 highway to Kingman.

Members attending were: Wayne and Marcia Strawder, Karla and Monte Long, John Denney, Diana and Dennis Tucker, Brad and Sharon Bradley, Randy and Susan Puls, Linda Peterson and guest, Anita and Bill Barnhart, John and Darlene Neufeld, Lora and Jack Martin, Susan Carden and Joe Gonzales, Deena and Victor Halfmoon, Gracie and Bryron McNickle.

The group enjoyed good conversation, good food, and even had cake. This may have been the last visit to Grumpy’s because his building is for sale and he’s looking to retire. We appreciate his service over the years.
