2nd Annual Downtown Hutchinson Rockin' Rollin' Rod Run

The 2009 Downtown Hutchinson Rockin' Rollin' Rod Run is set for Oct. 2, 3 and 4 and will include some new attractions, including a fashion show for the ladies.

More than 350 cars took part in the first rod run last year, with attendance at the free family event estimated at 20,000 to 25,000.
Last year's event included a barbecue, an evening movie, a poker run and a sock hop. This year, organizers will keep all of the elements of last year's show and add new activities, including a neon light show and cruise, longer hours for people to view the cars, and a fashion show and luncheon featuring downtown merchants.
The rod run Web site, www.hutchrodrun.com, will be updated and ready to accept vehicle registration reservations in early April. Sponsor, vendor and volunteer information will also be included on the Web site.

The Rockin' Rollin' Rod Run in downtown Hutchinson last weekend was a roaring success, as was its trial run for allowing pedestrians to carry and drink alcohol on the street within the designated entertainment district.
