Hutchinson, Kansas hosts the 6th annual Hutch Rod Run this October 4-6

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - May 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The City of Hutchinson, KS along with the downtown businesses invites everyone to come and enjoy this year’s Rod Run. The Run will be held in the beautifully restored Hutchinson downtown area which will be center stage for a weekend packed full of fun activities for the whole family.

There will be good things to eat, vendors to chat with and of course 100's of shiny Hot Rods, Street Rods, Rat Rods, Classic Cars and Trucks, Motorcycles, Race Cars and Wrapped Vehicles from all over the US. The cars will be parked on Main Street all weekend so you can easily get a close look at the great interiors, exteriors and engines of some of the nicest vehicles from around the country.

Friday Night, October 4th - 6pm to 9pm

The popular Friday Night Cruise is back again, sponsored by Volunteer Kansas. This year registered vehicles will be Cruisin' Main, just like in the old days. Drivers, passengers and spectators alike will enjoy this event bringing back memories and making new ones! The cruise will be open to everyone who has registered their car, truck or motorcycle for the weekend, and has their registration card posted on their windshield. King Midas & the Mufflers, the legendary Rock & Roll band, will be entertaining the crowd at Main Street and 1st Avenue for the duration of the cruise.

Saturday, October 5th - 9am to Noon

The ever popular city-wide Poker Run returns to the 2013 Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show, and this year the prize money is bigger than ever! How does $1,000 sound?

All vehicle owners will have an opportunity to sign up for the Poker Run when they register. The Poker Run is open to all vehicle owners registered for the Rod Run. The cost is $10 per hand (totaling 5 cards) with a limit of 3 hands per registered vehicle. Score cards will be given out at check-in on Friday and Saturday morning, as well as a map of five (5) locations in Hutchinson that will be stops for drawing the poker hand. Prize money will be $500 for the best hand, $300 for next best hand and $200 for the third best hand. In the case of a tie, there will be a draw off. Prize money will be awarded on Sunday during the Trophies and Awards Ceremony at 2PM in Memorial Hall. Good Luck!

Saturday Afternoon

Judging of the registered vehicles will take place beginning at 1:00PM and throughout the afternoon on Saturday. This year vehicles will be judged in one of 40 classes. The public is welcome to browse the vehicles and pick their favorites of the show.

Saturday Evening - 5 to 7pm

One of the event’s most popular activities is the "High Energy Burnout" show which will take place on Avenue A between Walnut and Main Street, in front of McVay's Garage. All vehicles registered for the 2013 Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show are eligible to participate in the Burnout as long as they have signed up and received a B card at registration. Bleacher seating will be available on a first come basis on Avenue A for those who wish to watch and enjoy the action.

Sunday, October 6th

The public is again welcome to check out the vehicles parked along Main Street, shop for event souvenirs, enjoy demonstrations by the vendors on Main Street and sample great food offered by downtown’s many restaurants while awaiting the awards celebration in the afternoon.

Sunday Afternoon: 2pm-4pm

The trophies and awards ceremony will take place in Memorial Hall (at Walnut and Avenue A). Here registered vehicle owners will find out if their hard work paid off. 2013 Hutch Rod Run judging will be conducted by professional judges from WyoTech.

A special thanks to Steve Petermann and JT Crank for allowing members to look over their Torch Red C7 Stingrays. JT Crank (son of Rich & Kathy Crank) received an award from the Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run. JT’s miniature C7 Stingray was the first C7 in Hutchinson and he displayed it next to his family’s ’89 Coupe at the 2013 Rod Run. The C7 trophy was presented to JT by Rod Run President Jim Gruver.
