June 2020 Mt. Rushmore Trip
Darwin Henry gave a review of the Group’s Mt. Rushmore road trip. Nadine had emailed photos earlier. Karen Ukens spoke for the group in thanking Darwin for his hard work in planning the trip. Many changes due to road construction or coronavirus had to be dealt with. Traveling to the Archway in Nebraska, Devil’s Tower and Mt. Rushmore were John Denney, Dennis Nicklin, Karen Ukens, Wayne and Marcia Strawder, and Darwin and Nadine Henry.
Colorado July 2018
Thanks to Darwin and Nadine Henry for planning and leading our group of 9 cars through the Colorado mountains for a summer cruise. We survived the drive over the Royal Gorge Bridge. The Thumpity thump of the wood bridge planks was a bit unnerving, but was a great photo-op. We drew many looks and phone videos. Wayne Strawder rode the zipline across the Gorge. Most heard him before actually spotting him.
Skyline Drive, a 2 ½ mile single lane road on a ridge above Canon City was another thrilling challenge for the Corvette drivers. Then on to Leadville for a scenic train ride. Thursday brought a day of mountain driving through the passes of the Gunnison National Forest. Beautiful views and a test of Corvette handling. A few of us flatlanders were wondering “are we there yet?”
After an overnight stay at Pagosa Springs, most headed for their own destinations of home or visiting area family.
Those enjoying the Colorado Road Trip were Roger and Joan Gibson, Ray and Audrey Wright, Dennis Nicklin and Karen Ukens, Sally Bond and her son Jeff, Gary and Janet Roth, Wayne and Marcia Strawder, Tom Klassen, Janet and Roger Crabill, Nadine and Darwin Henry.

Several Bowling Green trip attendees gave a recap of their experiences at the factory, museum and race track. There was actually another group that drove the NCM Motorsports track… Nadine Henry, Debby Gruver, Bill and Anita Barnhart, Randy and Kathie Gee, Gary and Janet Roth and Doyle Keffer tested their driving skills on the 3.5 mile road track. 23 people and 14 corvettes made the trip.
