Hello,
Angie and I got inspired to do the Drive and Dine when we were in the Pride of Kansas building at the State Fair. There was a booth giving out booklets that showcased Kansas Scenic Byways. There is a beautiful drive that goes from Canton, KS to Ellsworth, KS called the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway. We have decided to start at Lindsborg as the drive on the east side of I-135 was not as scenic and was a little unfriendly for Corvettes (we did the drive in Angie's Jeep). Our plan is to meet at Atwoods, drive north on K61 to I-135 to Lindsborg then stop for 15 minutes at the Whites Foodliner to let anyone from the north to meet up there and then head west to Ellsworth (you can see the Byway route in this link - https://www.travelks.com/things-to-do/byways-and-highways/byways/prairie-trail/ ).
From Ellsworth we plan on driving south to Ellinwood on K156/US56 to the Wolf Hotel for lunch and those that want to stay can do the Underground Tunnels tour beneath the hotel (https://www.historicwolfhotel.com/). If you look at the hotel link, there is some pretty cool stuff underground there. It is a very small venue and the staff will open up the dining just for our members. And if there is enough interest in the tour we can possibly get someone to come down with us and tend the underground bar that was open as a "speakeasy" during the prohibition.
