ATTENDEES:
Darwin & Nadine Henry, Wayne & Marcia Strawder, Galen & Marilyn Seehafer, Karen Ukens & Bobby Krause, John Denney, Bill & Diane Matlack, Tom Klassen, and Randy & Susan Puls. Y'all rock!
PRE-EVENT ITINERARY:
We will meet on Monday, May 4th, 2026 at the Burger King on I-135 at exit #28 in Newton, KS at 9:00AM. We will leave at 9:15AM. We will stop in Fredonia, KS at the Kitchen Table Restaurant for lunch. We will go to the Dalton Defenders Museum ($7.00 for seniors). Then we are off to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where we will stay for 4 nights at the Hampton Inn. We will have pizza from Casey's that evening at the motel. If you want anything to drink that you can not get at the convenience store, bring it with you.
On Tuesday we will drive curvy and scenic roads. On Wednesday we will go to the Walmart Museum (free) in Bentonville, Arkansas. Eat at the Spark Cafe there and then we will go to the Crystal Bridges Museum (free) in Bentonville, Arkansas. The rest of the day is yours to do as you please. There are other museums in Bentonville or you may want to go to the casino in W Siloam Springs, Oklahoma.
On Thursday we will drive more curvy and scenic roads. Each evening we will eat at a different restaurant in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. On Tuesday and Thursday we will have lunch at a fast food place on our drive.
On Friday on our way home we will stop in Arkansas City, Kansas at a restaurant for lunch. Go to the Cherokee Strip Land Rush Museum (donation) there in Arkansas City, KS. We might want to stop in Newton at Braum's for ice cream before we go our separate ways home.
I have a block on 10 two-queen bedrooms and 2 king bedrooms in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the Hampton Inn, at $129.00 per night until April 15, 2026. POST-EVENT RECAP:
Monday, May 4, 2026 we met up in Newton, Kansas. Stopped for lunch in Fredonia, Kansas at the Kitchen Table. Arrived in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Had supper at the Waffle House. Some of us played pitch and some just hung out for the evening.
Tuesday, May 5, 2026 we drove curvy roads and stopped in Ozark, Arkansas for lunch at the Ozark Burger Company. Then drove back to Siloam Springs by way of the curvy road called the Pig Trail Scenic Byway. We had supper at Big Whiskey's Bar and Grill. Again just had the evening to relax or play cards. (John, Marcia and Wayne went to the casino.)
Wednesday, May 6, 2026 we drove to Bentonville, Arkansas to the Walmart Museum. Most of the group went to the Crystal Bridges Museum and had lunch there. Everyone did as they wished in the afternoon. We ate supper at Sam's Southern Eatery.
Thursday, May 7, 2026 John Denney left us to go home in order to go on a trip to Cabo. Darwin & Nadine Henry, Bill & Diane Matlack, Tom Klassen, and Galen Seehafer drove really curvy roads to Jasper, Arkansas where we had lunch at the Subway. More curvy roads back to Siloam Springs. Wayne & Marcia Strawder, Marilyn Seehafer, Karen Ukens and Bobby Krause did their own thing--antique shopping, just relaxing, or visiting the local park. Randy & Susan Puls had a tire issue. After they got the tire fixed, they drove the Pig Trail again. We all had supper at a local steakhouse Callahan's. Some relaxed, some played cards and Bobby Krause went to the casino.
Friday. May 8, 2026 Tom Klassen went to see his brother in Springfield, Missouri. Randy and Susan Puls went to Little Rock and Hot Springs, Arkansas. The rest of us headed home. Stopped in Ponca City for lunch. After lunch Galen & Marilyn Seehafer, Karen Ukens and Bobby Krause went on their way home. Darwin & Nadine Henry, Marcia & Wayne Strawder, and Bill & Diane Matlack stopped at the Cherokee Land Rush Museum at Arkansas City, Kansas. We stopped in Newton at Braum's for ice cream. Everyone went on their way home.
We drove a total of 1102 miles.
