TRIP ITINERARY:
CHANGE OF PLANS, March 14, 2025: Due to park construction, the park will be closed on the day we would be there. So we will now leave on Wednesday May 7th and be at Little Big Horn on Friday May 9th, and be home on Sunday May 11th. I have notified everyone who is going.

Little Big Horn Trip May 2025
We will meet on Monday, May 5th, 2025 at 8:30 AM at the McPherson rest area. Leave at 8:45 AM. We will have lunch at York, Nebraska at The Kitchen restaurant. We will spend the night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In the evening, we will go to the falls and have supper at a sandwich place there. You can spend as much time or as little time as you like there and go back to the motel when you like on your own.
On Tuesday I think we will stop at Wall Drug for lunch. We will spend the night in Broadus, Montana. Not sure where we will have supper at yet but it will be in Broadus. Now the motel in Broadus does not serve breakfast; they do have coffee. There is a food market there. You need to go there and get something for breakfast and also get something for lunch for Wednesday.
At lunch time we will be at the Little Big Horn; there is no food there or close by. Your national park pass will get you into the park. We will spend Wednesday night in Casper, Wyoming. Again not sure where we will have supper.
Thursday we will stop at Fort Laramie; it is free. Again we will need to get something for lunch because we will eat there (Fort Laramie). We will spend the night in Ogallala, Nebraska. Not sure where we will have supper.
On Friday we will stop at the Bailey Yard in North Platte, Nebraska and watch the trains (admission is $10:00 for seniors). We will stop at a Runza somewhere for lunch on our way home.
This is an outline of our trip. I will make our supper plans this winter and give you more information in March 2025.
Here is the motel information:

TRIP RECAPS:
Members of the CKCA left from the rest area north of McPherson, May 7, 2025. Our first stop was at Belleville, Kansas for a break and to pick up a few more members. Seven cars of 13 members continued the trip to Montana.
An overnight stay at Sioux Falls, South Dakota and a visit to the Falls Park started our trip. The Big Sioux River flowed over boulders of Quartzite rock and was the highlight of the park.
On the road the next day and a stop at Wall Drug, South Dakota. A definite tourist trap, but a fun stop and a good lunch.
Friday we arrived at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. A driving self-tour lead us over the rolling hills and through ravines of the battlefield. Educational plaques told of the events at pull offs. Since we arrived early and before heavy tourist season, we were able to spend time as we wanted. We had a picnic lunch at a small local park, which drew attention from the locals. They admired our cars, then cautioned us to "not feed the bears."
Saturday we visited Fort Laramie in Wyoming. Many buildings were restored and reflected life of 1870's cavalry and infantry.
We had an overnight stay at the Best Western in Ogallala, Nebraska, then on the road home Sunday. We visited the Bailey Railroad Yard in North Platte, Nebraska. Thousands of railcars are sorted and sent on to their destinations. A lunch at Nebraska's Runza, then we all scattered for home.
Thanks to Darwin and Nadine Henry for planning the trip.

On May 7th, 2025, 6 Corvettes and 11 people left the McPherson Rest Area in the rain. By the time we were in Salina the rain had stopped and the weather was good the rest of the trip. We met up with 1 more Corvette in Belleville, KS. There were 7 Corvettes and 13 people. We had lunch in York, NE and supper in Beresford, South Dakota. Spent the night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and went to the falls that evening.
May 8th, we stopped in Wall, South Dakota for lunch at Wall Drug. Had a good time there. Then stayed in Broadus, MT and had supper at a good steak house. (Motel was not the best but everyone was a good sport about it.)
May 9th, we were off to Little Big Horn; took in all the sights there and ate our lunch in a park. Locals came by and took pictures of the Corvettes. We stayed the night in Casper, WY. (The motel gave us special parking.) We had supper at a 50's style restaurant; many had good milk shakes.
May 10th, we stopped in Fort Laramie, WY at the fort and ate our lunch there. We stayed the night in Ogallala, NE. Ate supper at a steak house with a western theme.
May 11th, there were only 6 corvettes. We stopped at North Platte, NE at Bailey Yards. You can see all the train cars coming in and separated to make new trains and leaving. We ate our lunch in Holdrege, NE. Stopped in Hayes, KS. One Corvette had turned off by then and another one had went on from Holdrege, NE. Two more Corvettes turned off at Ellsworth, KS. Then there were two Corvettes to Salina.
We drove a total of 1952 miles and averaged 63.9 miles per hour. A good time had by all.
