Lindsborg Drive & Dine
July 2012
As we drove past Coronado Heights and then headed north, I'm sure many of you were wondering where in the world we were going. I knew there was a county blacktop a few miles ahead that we could take west and it would turn south through the town of Falun and get us back to highway 4, however I wasn't expecting such a long and winding road with sharp curves. A road made for Mike Neuway and his ZR-1. Steve Stoss said we might have found a stretch of road with the most consecutive curves in the state of Kansas. Marina had to tell me to 'slow down' on a couple of occasions or she was going to be sick. Yikes!
I've attached a map at the bottom in case anyone has an interest in making this little drive.
Everyone have a safe 4th!

Ol Stuga welcomes CKCA - Special thanks to Mike Dick for his order of 'super sardines' & Jim Barkley for his dual oders of
'mouth watering oysters' & 'perfectly pickled herring' - my bowels may never be the same)

Hudson
Drive & dine to the Wheatland Café in Hudson was enjoyed by 22 CKCA members (10 Corvettes and 2 Chrysler 300’s).
Yes, I said 2 Chrysler 300’s…
The café didn't open until 11:00 am and we arrived earlier than expected at 10:45. We were first in line for the 'all you can eat buffet' (yes, that’s very important) and sat at a reserved table where we were treated like VIP’s. The homemade 'apple cobbler' and 'vanilla ice-cream' topped off a great lunch. The ‘locals’ seemed to thoroughly enjoy seeing the corvettes.
Following lunch, Jim Barkley and Linda Ratzlaff led us on a 'mini' parade around Hudson and then back through the ‘snaky’ Rattlesnake Road and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge.
Although it was "colder than a well digger’s backside" Sunday morning, everyone enjoyed the outing.
Kevin
P.S. I have nothing against Chrysler 300's or Chrysler products, I just couldn’t resist. Ha!

Polo Hutchinson
11 CKCA members and 2 guests met for lunch at the Polo Bar & Grill Saturday afternoon. Following lunch, a handful of us traveled the winding roads (yes, we did find winding roads) to Arlington, Pretty Prairie and Cheney Lake. It was a beautiful December afternoon and everyone enjoyed the outing.
As you can see, our caravan looked like a ‘swarm of bumble bees’.
In all seriousness, we witnessed how critical the current drought is during our stops at Cheney Lake.
Prayers are definitely needed for rain… it’s not a pretty sight.

Saturday, May 18 - Drive & Dine Wrap-Up
22 people enjoyed yesterdays Drive & Dine to the Block 32 Eatery & Pub in Moundridge. Several new members participated in their first Drive & Dine. A special thanks to the CKCA 'Activity Coordinators' Linda Ratzlaff & Debby Gruver for organizing the outing. A special mention to Jim 'Mario Gabriele Andretti' Gruver for leading the screamin' caravan to and from Moundridge. Jim would give Russell Kelley a run for his money and appears to be the 'odds on favorite' to lead the caravan to Bloomington Gold June 26-30. Go Jim Go!

Benton Drive & Dine
18 CKCA members and 11 Corvettes participated in Saturdays Drive & Dine to Burrton and Benton. We stopped for a quick tour of Jim Dole’s Mobil station (Jim informed us he had owned 27 Corvettes in his lifetime; I actually purchased Jim’s last Corvette [my first], an ’81 4-Speed T-Top). We took a quick tour of Jim’s station and a group photograph. We ‘dreamed’ of the posted gasoline prices of 23 & 25 cents per gallon. We were then led by Kim and Linda Corcoran on the back roads to our destination of Benton, Kansas and the Stearman Field Bar & Grill.
We enjoyed a great lunch outside under the covered patio.
