November 2016: Burrton
Respectfully submitted by Susan Puls…
“The twelve mile straight shot drive to Burrton was lengthened to fifty eight miles as we meandered this way and that way in search of the tiny town. In fact Susan thought Randy was lost until she realized we were on the west side of Moundridge. I’m sure those following would concur. It was a wonderful BBQ buffet meal at The Barn and a ‘picture perfect’ fall day. There were twenty one cars and thirty eight people… maybe a couple more. No deer were sighted, just some crazy farm chickens that wanted to play "chicken" with Randy in his white '81 Vette; dumb chickens did not know he was losing his front brakes!!

October 2016: Mr. K's
Thank you to Darwin and Nadine Henry for the fun cruise through the Smoky Valley, with stops at Abilene’s Mr. K’s Farmhouse, and Lindsborg’s Old Mill Museum. The weather was dry with cool overcast of clouds. We did have to pedal hard in the wind to keep up in our old ’78.
August 2016: Scuttlebutt's
We had a great turnout for the 'Park & Dine' Friday night. The weather was perfect (felt like a fall evening) and we had 23 Corvettes and nearly 40 CKCA members in attendance. There were also several Mid-State Street Rod members that joined us... special thanks to Terry Brigman for getting the word out to his club and to CKCA member Doyle Keffer for planning the event. It was a festive atmosphere and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening. Considering the long line of people ordering food, the Scuttlebutts staff handle it very well.
May 21 & 22 2016 Drive & Dine
We started out with 10 Corvettes and 19 people. On our drive Saturday, we had a few sprinkles but otherwise good weather. In Cawker City we had more people interested in the old gas station (remodeled as a bed and breakfast) than the ball of twine. Had a good noon meal at Plum Creek restaurant in Beloit. Two Corvettes left Beloit to return to Hutchinson. Eight Corvettes traveled on to the Weaver Hotel in Waterville, Kansas. We toured the Opera House, Caboose Museum, & Train Museum plus took a train ride. We had supper at the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Marysville, Kansas. Back to the Weaver Hotel for a gab session.
On Sunday one couple returned to Hutchinson early for a graduation. Another couple left to visit family. Six Corvettes left for the destination of Cozy Inn in Salina, Kansas. Fun weekend and a good drive! |
March 2016
Grumpy's Drive and Dine in Kingman
Twenty-three members in a dozen Corvettes braved the cold and wind to cruise the back roads to Grumpy’s Steakhouse and Bar in Kingman. Again we received quick and friendly service with great food. Linda Peterson was surprised with a Corvette themed cake and received a chorus of “Happy Birthday”. Thanks to everyone who participated.
