Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' ~ October 19, 2023
– Words and photos submitted by CKCA Members Gerald and Denise Haughton
Hutchinson holds a monthly block-party in Old Downtown called 'Third Thursday' (which takes place the third Thursday of every mon....um, never mind), and this month's theme was "Salt City Music Showcase." PERFECT weather this evening - warm, clear, dry, no wind - and downtown was happening! Many people - kids and non-kids alike - were duded up in their best Halloween attire, which added to the vibe.
I snagged a primo parking spot just as the festivities were getting underway, and grabbed some pix to document the happy occasion.
The Hyway Fourteen band was rocking out on Main Street, in the parking lot across from Wayne's Printing and Copying (Hi Wayne and Marcia!). They! Were! LOUD! I made a slow walkabout of downtown, enjoying the happy vibe and the various musical genres represented, but by-and-by found myself back at Hyway Fourteen - I may be getting older, but I've yet to grow out of my lifelong taste for classic rock 'n roll.
Over the din, I plugged in with the lady working their merch table (Mrs. Fall, I discovered later, proud mom of two of the band members), bought a copy of their brand-new CD "Construction Paper Town" (which was being officially released to the public the following day, 10/20/2023), and offered to pay a little extra if they'd all sign the CD for Denise and me when they were done playing for the evening and pose for a quick photo in front of our Corvette. (The paint pen they used on the CD case sure looks an awful lot like Polo Green Metallic. Coincidence? :)
Cool kids! Their music was sorta rock-ish > grunge-ish > country-ish > grunge-ish > rock-ish (and did I mention LOUD?), but no covers, all original songs. Loud, with lots of drive, sustain and a boss bass beat. My kinda music, in other words.
Mrs. Fall, mom of bandmembers Asher and Asa, seemed mighty proud of the kids (and amped that people were actually buying their CD). I wished them all well, and hope to run into them again. They have a very bright future, in my opinion. (Of note, they also played at the Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run on October 6, 2023 - well done, Jim Gruver!)
If you like rocking out in your Corvette, consider Construction Paper Town by Hyway Fourteen for Christmas. They have the Some Old Fat Guy™ (me!) seal of approval!

Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' ~ July 16, 2015
We had a nice turnout last night at the Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' event. Over 20 CKCA members (16 Corvettes) enjoyed a beautiful evening in downtown Hutchinson. As usual, the Corvettes drew considerable attention throughout the evening. Several members enjoyed sandwiches across the street at Cool Beans.

Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' ~ August 20, 2014
15 CKCA members and 9 Corvettes ‘braved the heat’ and attended the Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' event at DCI Park last week. Several members enjoyed “Moonburgers,” while others enjoyed a late breakfast at Skaets Steak Shop following the event. Everyone enjoyed the impressive local band that played Beatles hits throughout the evening in the large gazebo.

Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' ~ June 19, 2014
Thirteen Corvettes participated in the Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' event, even though they cancelled the bike show because of potential bad weather. It turned out to be a beautiful evening, with a good-sized crowd. CKCA members enjoyed the evening, ate at Playa and also stopped at The Polo for a nightcap.

Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' ~ July 18, 2013
Thirty CKCA members (17 Corvettes) participated in last night's Downtown Hutchinson 'Third Thursday' event, and later caravanned to Playa for dinner. We were also joined by a handful of Mid State Street Rod members. This was one of our best 'Third Thursday' turnouts, and everyone enjoyed a great July evening.
