October 2020
October 31, 2020 was a sunny day for a drive to Salina lead by Darwin and Nadine Henry. Nineteen Corvettes left the McPherson rest area. Our first stop picked up one more member to tour the private collection of Tim Pestinger. His collection had a couple dozen mostly American muscle and drag cars, all in excellent condition. Our picnic lunch of Cozy burgers was moved to Tim’s “man cave”, where he graciously allowed the group to enjoy seating with displays of posters and car memorabilia. A rousing chorus of happy birthday was sung for Joe Gonzales and Lora Martin.
Our next stop was to view the private collection of Roger Morrison. His collection consisted of many European touring cars. But the car that drew most of the group’s attention was his all original white ’63 split-window Corvette. He shared histories of many of his cars.
Thank you to Darwin and Nadine Henry for planning this drive. There was much interest to see the car collections and we had a very good attendance of 35 members. Thank you to members for wearing face masks. We want to continue to have drives, but must be Covid -19 cautious.

September 2020
After a foggy, cloudy morning, Saturday, September 12 cleared to be a beautiful day for a drive and a wonderful day for a picnic. Seven Corvettes left Hutchinson and cruised the back country roads. Darwin and Nadine Henry met up with the group at Elyria and Sally Bond was waiting at Halstead. After a few photos at the depot museum, lunch was enjoyed at Riverside Park. No cherry pie for John Denney, his choice for the day was apple. Several locals drove through the park to view our unintentional car show. Thank you to Greg and Kay Gordon for planning the drive. Those attending were Greg and Kay Gordon, Alan and Joyce Russ, Jack and Lora Martin, Doyle Keffer, John Denney, Wayne and Marcia Strawder, Jim and Debby Gruver, Darwin and Nadine Henry, and Sally Bond.
August 2020
The start of Saturday’s Mystery Drive began with eight Corvettes leaving Hutchinson, one more joining up at Inman. Four more Corvettes were waiting at the McPherson rest area. Thirteen in total were off to see where Darwin and Nadine Henry would lead us.
We waved to Elmo at Elmo, we danced the Carlton in our head as we passed Carlton. When we turned on Wolf Road, we howled at the hills and curves. At noon we ate our picnic lunches at a shady rest area near Junction City. John Denney again enjoyed his cherry pie.
Then off again, we went south on highway 99, which was fine. From the Smoky Valley to the flint hills, we saw many rock cliffs, rock walls, rock houses, barns and churches.
Thanks to Darwin and Nadine for the fun day cruising the backroads. Did anyone set their trip? How many miles did we travel?

July 2020
Saturday, July 25, sixteen members in nine Corvettes meet at Kmart’s lot and traveled an easy cruise to Sterling’s shady city lakeside park. Each brought lawn chairs and a picnic lunch. John Denney even brought cherry pie. A nice breeze kept things comfortable. Many stayed till 1 o’clock enjoying conversation. It was a fun way to have a Covid safer get together. Those attending were Monte and Carla Long, Dennis and Diana Tucker, Wayne and Marcia Strawder, Ron and Mary Clark, Jack and Lora Martin, Greg and Kay Gordon, John Denney, Sally Bond, Bill and Anita Barnhart.
