Wayne and Marcia Strawder will host a dine and drive to El Cerrito Mexican Restaurant in Hesston this Saturday, May 18th, 2024. Please meet at 4:00 PM at Atwoods/Kwik Shop on East 30th. The group will leave at 4:15 PM. They need a firm count no later than Wednesday May 15th and you need to call or email Marcia to RSVP. We had a great turn-out for our drive and dine to Hesston's El Cerrito Mexican Restaurant, May 18, 2024. Fifteen Corvettes left Hutchinson and before leaving town did a drive-by honk and wave for Gerald and Denise Haughton's neighbors, especially for a gentleman just home from the hospital. It was reported that they enjoyed the parade.
When we arrived at El Cerrito, most members hurried in out of the ninety degree Kansas weather. They had our tables ready. When the group of 33 members got settled, the wait staff quickly took orders and brought drinks. Meals soon began to arrive at our tables. Juan, the owner and cook, thanked Wayne and invited us back anytime.

CKCA descending en masse on El Cerrito in Hesston!
CKCA member Karen Ukens, whom we escorted back from Hesston (everyone else was long gone when Karen, Denise and I finally finished chatting after supper at El Cerrito), pulled over in Medora to make sure we knew how to get back to Hutch from here. Thank you Karen!!

Thank you Wayne and Marcia for organizing and leading the Drive and Dine to El Cerrito in Hesston. We had a great time!
And thanks a million for making our neighbors' day by doing the "honk and wave" past their homes. Fred & Trish Alonzo (who are good friends with club members Carla and Monte Long), and Bob & Lu Stiggins told us afterwards it was such a treat to see and hear all our Corvettes go by!
A million thanks to our club members who were so enthusiastic about this last-minute addition to our Drive and Dine itinerary. Y'all rock! Many of you told us how much fun this was, and Tracy Patton even suggested that the club consider making something like this a regular occurrence.
Thank you Central Kansas Corvette Association for making our neighbors' day (and thank you Karen Ukens for making sure we didn't get lost on the way home!)
